内容简介：Since its inception in October 2012, 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at University of Surrey has become the world’s first and largest research institute dedicated to the 5G research. In the first part of the presentation, we will look at research activities in different work areas within 5GIC as well as some highlights of our recent achievements. In the second part of the presentation, we discuss the network slicing technique to support 5G use cases and verticals. Previous generations of cellular networks were designed and optimized for a single purpose, thus can no longer meet future demands of the wide range of 5G services. It is anticipated that the support of network slicing will be one of the pillars for building the 5G ecosystems and to allow cellular operators to compose and manage dedicated virtual networks with required quality of services. In this talk, we will look at the technical challenges to implement radio access network slicing and introduce some pioneer work conducted at 5GIC, University of Surrey in this area.

专家简介：Pei Xiao is a professor of Wireless Communications at the Institute for Communication Systems, home of 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) at the University of Surrey. He is the technical manager of 5GIC, leading the research team in the new physical layer work area, and coordinating/supervising research activities across all the work areas within 5GIC (www.surrey.ac.uk/5gic/research). Prior to this, he worked at Newcastle University and Queen’s University Belfast. He also held positions at Nokia Networks in Finland. He has published extensively in the fields of communication theory, RF and antenna design as well as signal processing for wireless communications.
