报告人简介：

练国平， 英国萨里大学教授， 联合利华研发部主任研究员。多年从事食品，药品和精细化工等复杂材料配方和加工的研究。他对微纳米颗粒材料间的液桥力的研究作出重要理论贡献，首次用数字方法求出两百年来未解决的拉普拉斯-扬方城的近似解。他首次开发的湿颗粒离散元方法，现已广泛应用于国际化工，采矿，农业等领域颗粒材料与工艺的模拟和研究。他今年致力于多物理多尺度方法在复杂系统上的应用，所领导开发的皮肤吸收和生物利用度软件在国际工业界和法规都有应用。

报告简介:

Aquaponics, as a newly emerging intensive farming technology offers many potential benefits including reducing land use, improving water efficiency and  minimizing environmental pollution. A main challenge of aquaponics farming is the complexity and high cost in controlling the condition for plant and fish production. This talk discusses how various multiscale and multiphysics modelling methods can be applied for the simulation, optimization and control of aquaponics systems. At systems level,compartmental models can be exploited to simulated the highly coupled systems dynamic of heat transfer, dissolved oxygen and water quality parameters. At unit operation level, computational fluid dynamics modelling offers the advantage of predicting temporal- spatial resolutions of temperature, dissolved oxygen and water quality. Much of the challenge is to develop physiologically based models to predict fish and plant growth as affected by nutrients supply, water quality, and temperature control. Another challenge is to integrate systems dynamics modelling with molecular level modeling disease, eg. systems biology, molecular dynamics and molecular informatics. The talk concludes that EMPC (economic model prediction control) can be a useful tool to address the complexity and optimize the operation of aquaponics systems.
